4 red flags to look out for when on boarding a new client as a Digital Business Manager or freelancer!👇

We’ve all heard our fair share of difficult client stories, but how do we avoid them?

👉This is why I highly recommend a trial month (or 2) or project so you don’t end up blindly walking into the lion’s den.

During that trial period, you’ll want to look out for these bad client telltale signs…

🚩They expect you to be available at a drop of a hat (aka whenever they need you)
🚩They don’t see your value (and they are sure tell you)
🚩They micro-manage you like a stage mom on toddlers and tiaras
🚩They don’t pay your invoice on time
🚩They treat you like an employee and not a freelancer

Spotting these red flags comes with time and practice.

🖤And don’t be hard on yourself if you come across these bad client experiences. As much as we’d like to avoid them, these firsthand encounters will only make you better at sniffing them out in the future.

But the one thing you can do to avoid as many of these difficult clients as possible is to trust your gut.

🏃‍♀️Be careful not to jump the gun, always have a trial period, and don’t be afraid to run for the hills if you spot one or more of these red flags.

When you’re a busy bee 🐝 of a freelancer but your friends and family still think you don’t have a “real job”. Can you relate?😂

Jokes aside, freelancing is a veeery real job😅

What I think your friends and family mean is a “normal” or “traditional” job.

I was raised to believe that the “right path” is the same one most people took. And it goes a little like this…

💯Get good grades
🎓Go to a great college
💼Land a prestigious internship
🪜Start climbing the corporate ladder

But I quickly realized that waking up to my 7:30AM alarm 5 days a week left me feeling sick and filled with existential dread.

✨And that is why I took the big, scary plunge and dipped my big toe into the pool of online freelancing.

Fast forward a few years and I am doing the damn thing!🙌

And even though freelancing isn’t the “norm,” it’s the reason why I’ve won the epic battle between passion and security as I came out the other end with a job that I love (and a pocket full o’cash 🤫).

Yes, freelancing isn’t the traditional route, but it’s one that is absolutely worth the journey.
